About Mirela Jade.

Mirela Jade is a Filipino-Canadian tattoo artist, printmaker and illustrator working in Calgary, Alberta. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in Printmaking from Emily Carr University of Art + Design (Vancouver, BC).

After graduating from university, she began her tattooing career in Calgary in 2021 and has continued to develop her practices in both tattooing and printmaking. She currently works out of Unbothered Tattoo Co. in Calgary while pursuing printmaking through her independent project, Black Heron Prints. Between tattooing and printmaking projects, she also maintains a painting practice, many of which get turned into prints.

Drawing inspiration from Art Nouveau, traditional and neo-traditional tattooing, and the natural world, she is continually exploring new ways to challenge herself and expand her artistic practice.

Her work has been recognized with the Vancouver Art Attack Award of Excellence in Visual Art and the SGC International Awagami Paper Award in 2020. She also has received awards for Traditional and Neo-Traditional tattooing at the Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival in 2025.
